Ryan Meyer

Born and raised on Oahu, Ryan Meyer is a mechanical engineer for a local A/E firm specializing in sustainable buildings. An avid surfer, and having been raised in the oceans of Hawaii, Ryan was driven to bring sustainability to Hawaii's closest neighbors, the Line Islands of the atoll nation Kiribati. After holding local medical and school supply drives, Ryan traveled to Christmas and Fanning Islands to bring much needed donations, evaluate the possibilities of sustainable projects, and to learn about the effects of rising ocean levels and abusive fishing practices of foreign countries in Kiribati waters. Ryan plans on returning to the Line Islands with his surfboard and an aid team to continue medical missions and to document the perils of life in a small country that revolves completely around the Pacific Ocean.
